Just spent half an hour outside trying to feed the fly traps with insects LOOL. Some random brown maggot thing crawled out of the peat moss so I fed it to the trap :D and my dad decided to try to feed it this spider that was too big and crawled all over the traps and closed alot of them before he squeezed it with pliers and force fed it == I think the trap with the spider's going to die..

A timeline of events to refresh your memory after the 3 week drought of TPG responses:

30/09 - 2.6GB data usage logged at 5:59PM (-$300 lol)

02/10 - Text received from TPG informing me that my cap was exhausted (2 days late), immediately called TPG, was told they'd investigate, posted on Whirlpool, etc.

05/10 - TPG call back and say the usage was logged in Calamvale at 5:59PM on 30/09, and told me to email the customer service department, to which I sent this email:

TPG customer service,

I have just got off a call to the mobile billing inquiries department, and was assisted by a representative who told me to email any suspicions against the charge of 2,621MB data usage at 30/09/2011 17:59:01 to this address. I asked him about the results of the investigation that had been conducted after I notified TPG of my concerns on Sunday, and he had revealed to me that the data use was recorded in the vicinity of CALAMVALE. However, during this time I was in an address in HAWTHORNE, some 20km+ away. In regards to this, would it be possible to crosscheck with the location of a message sent from my number to +61449768002 at 6:00PM? I'm sure it would be a considerable distance away from Calamvale.

He also advised that I check any data logs my mobile device has to tally any usage and check it against the recorded amount, but the Galaxy S2 does not have any stock applications or feature that does this. Also, the representative also informed me that the type of data used was under 'access', which was things such as webpages and videos, but I find it very hard to believe my phone was able to download 2.6GB worth of webpages OR video files without my direct intention, as the only conceivable way this could've been done by downloading a video file would be through the YouTube client, which defaults to low quality videos on mobiles. 2.6GB of such video would last days.

I also do not have any applications on my phone that require the usage of such volumes of data, and it can be seen on the previous days of usage that it rarely exceeded 10MB, as my internet use on the phone only consists of very light browsing, Facebook, and weather updates. Not to mention the amount of time it would take for a mobile connection to download 2.6GB. It would have no chance to reach that stage without my intervention, as it would likely have taken many hours, if not days over a mobile connection. The only possibility is a navigation program which actively downloads maps, but at the time I was in a house since 4:30PM, so the location wouldn't have changed to download additional map data. Not to mention that 2.6GB of map data would almost surely span the entire country.

Would it be possible to further check the details of the connection that used 2.6GB? Where did it connect to, and likely for what purpose? TPG has not given me any trouble in providing service for my mobile and residential broadband until now, and I do not wish to change providers over this incident, but a $340 bill is simply too significant to ignore. However, without knowing the exact cause of this charge if it was valid, it would be very hard for me to avoid a repeat of such a costly incident.

I sincerely hope that this issue is resolved.

12/10 - No reply from customer service email after a week. Emailed TPG forum admin and asked them what was going on, to which they reply the customer service *probably* didn't receive it, so I sent the forum admin a copy as well

13/10 - They reply and tell me they forwarded it to the customer service department. Ok.

18/10 - No reply after 5 days from forum admin. 13 days from customer service LOL. I ask them about it, they say it's been sent already. Ok.

24/10 (Yesterday) - Having had enough of the waiting game almost a month after the start of the 'investigation', I threaten them with a complaint to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, who independently resolve cases like this and can suspend a company's license to operate ROFL

It has been almost 3 weeks since the email was sent, and this is the only reply I've received from the department I was told to email. It's not hard to see why I doubt there is any progress being made on the 'investigation'. I have not received any of the information I've requested that validates the excess usage.

I have been recommended to contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman for resolution of this issue in a timely manner, and I will lodge a complaint if I do not receive any more information about my case.

THENNN today they sent an email that pretty much said ok ok we've escalated your case and you can expect a call today. Sure enough, I got it while I was in the gym so I was pacing around on the phone for 25 minutes like a retard near the lockers being angry HAHAHAH. The call pretty much went like this but actually over a long time and lots of trying to make the other person sound like a retard from both sides:

"Okay blahblahblah cell towers we picked up your usage at 6PM (the 2.6GB connection) from a cell tower in CALAMVALE..."

"I was in Hawthorne which is pretty damn far from Calamvale brah"

"Lemme check"

"Okay, so it IS pretty far from Calamvale.. BUT OUR LOGS SAY YOU WERE AT CALAMVALE! I mean, you might've been on your way out of Calamvale at 5:59 or something. You also used 2.6GB on access to Facebook and Youtube"

"well, seeing as there's nothing I can prove to you seeing as you hold all the logs which you're so adamantly sure are 100% accurate, by doing which you're saying I don't know where I was at at this particularly point in time, I guess I'll just have to lodge a complaint to the TIO.."

"well no shit sherlock how else would you have charged me $300. plus YOU made the logs, there's not exactly a way for me to disprove it when you're the one holding all the records. what I DO have are witnesses and photos taken at the address in Hawthorne that will readily prove that I was not in the vicinity of Calamvale at the time"

"..Okay, fine. We'll take your word for it. I'll put in a request saying you weren't in the area and we'll try to credit the $300 back to your account, but there's no guarantee. We'll call back tomorrow at 5PM."

SO YEAH! *anticipation*. The turning point was pretty much when he said the connections were to Facebook videos/YouTube, cause from that point on I was pretty fuckin' sure I didn't download 2.6GB worth of low-qual YT videos that would've lasted for DAYS.
They're really scared of the TIO :3 I mean, I got 0 response for 19 days following my long as email UNTIL I threatened to lodge a complaint to the TIO ROFL

Part 1

Got home today, went on Whirlpool to see if my post got any attention from the TPG reps. Thankfully, it did. Then I go on the TPG mobile usage log, and see THIS.

If you can't see the discrepancies, here they are.

My data was supposedly exhausted in a single connection on the 30th of September.

Prior to this, I had 900MB++ in data allowance left, so let's say in a 2.6GB download I went ~1.6GB over the limit and incurred $340 in charges. That adds up. Fine.

Now the NEWEST addition to the list was a charge filed on the 29TH OF SEPTEMBER, a day BEFORE I SUPPOSEDLY finished my data allowance. So say I had 900MB left on the 29th of September, and I *somehow* managed to download 200MB. That'd leave me 700MB in data allowance, and I wouldn't be charged $40 for it (but they'd charge me more on the 2.6GB connection made after). As you can see, this doesn't seem to be the case. Now the outstanding balance for is $-362.45. Fabulous, no?

Sure enough, crazy mobile phone bills aren't unheard of. Roaming, long phone calls, didn't read T&Cs, etc etc. Crazy mobile phone bills for things you DIDN'T do? wat

Oh yeah, another thing. I got the SMS from TPG that was conveniently 2 days late at 2PM on Sunday (02/10/2011). I immediately called after I saw the -$300 thing on the control panel, deactivated network data usage on my phone (no 3G data connections), and installed 3G Watchdog Pro by an .apk (filthy pirate here). I didn't *touch* mobile data. But sure enough, look at the log. 2 data entries (admittedly not worth a lot) from the day I made sure my 3G/GPRS was off. 3G Watchdog shows 0 Bytes used.

No, I didn't think this would happen to me either.

My personal bottom line is: TPG is an unethical business, as their underlying aim includes trapping users through obscure conditions to make profits beyond the market norm.

To the <10 of you sobs that read this, I've just been billed $340 from TPG for excess data.

See that? That is apparently 2.6GB on my phone in the span of 1 second. During that time I was at Akina's place doing pre-semi stuff like taking photos and shit. My phone was untouched. Hell, the total amount of storage used on my phone only amounts to ~1.8GB. There's no way I could've downloaded 2.6GB on my phone. This part is pointless ranting. There's no way for me to prove now that I didn't do anything with my phone (which I honestly didn't).

Another issue is their notification of incurring extra charges from exhausting your data allowance (mine was 1GB). According to the log, my data finished at ~6PM Friday. My notification arrived 2PM Sunday. This is another tactic they use to maximize your excess data charges. THIS is dirty business.

TPG charges an excessively high data excess fee beyond a certain point. TPG notifies users per SMS of the point that this takes place, but the message will arrive at least two days but up to a week delayed. In that time, the high excess charges are (conveniently) incurred. This usually amounts to several thousand dollars for a couple of MB, which TPG then deducts immediately.

I've called them and an investigation is pending, but hopes for recovering the money (which has already been deducted) are slim to none. Apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to, and I was lucky to *only* have lost $340. People have been stung this way for thousands of dollars.

You have been warned. Sure, TPG's cheap, but for the love of god turn your 3G/GPRS off.

So today there was a guy benching opposite to me and we both started at around the same time. Just as I finish my warmup and about to start my last work set, he gets pinned under 70kg and has to roll the weights off. I get up and help him take them off and he thanks me. Less than 5 minutes later, I completely fail halfway up my last rep, and lo and behold, he comes out of nowhere and helps me rack the bar.

Went to LE Gear's opening sale today. Got this Fenix TA20 for about half price :] totally worth the drive. Max output 225 lumens (eg very fuckin bright) and it came with like 3 sets of surefire batteries LOL.
